Job summary

The Vancouver Waldorf School in North Vancouver is seeking a full-time (0.9 FTE) teacher for our Grade 1-8 French program. Classes are 50-minute sessions and run two to three times per week per grade.

The successful candidate will have university-level French, possess or qualify for a BC Teaching Certificate, Waldorf experience preferred, and prepare lessons per Waldorf and BC curriculums. Mentoring will be provided; duties include supervision, meetings, and report writing.

Qualifications

• Applicants should have university-level French study and be able to acquire BC Teaching Certificate.
• Experience teaching French in a school setting is required.
• Fluency in written and spoken French and English.

Job description

The Vancouver Waldorf School is seeking a full-time (0.9 FTE) teacher for our Grade 1-8 French program. Classes are 50-minute sessions and run two to three times per week per grade.

The applicant should have French subject teaching experience, have studied university-level French and be able to acquire a BC Teaching Certificate upon hire. Waldorf classroom teaching experience is preferred, and the applicant will be expected to prepare lesson plans per the Waldorf and BC Ministry of Education and Child Care curriculums. Mentoring will be provided. The applicant must have the ability to work with children with a range of abilities across different age groups. In addition to teaching, other duties will include:

• recess supervision
• committee work
• attendance at section meetings and full faculty meetings
• regular professional development
• report writing and parent meetings

Education and Skill Requirements

• BC Teacher Certification or ability to qualify;
• 5 years or more of Teaching is preferred
• Waldorf experience preferred
• Fluent in written and spoken French & English
