Job summary

Vancouver Waldorf School in North Vancouver, BC, seeks a part-time Cello Teacher for a temporary, immediate-start position. You will teach Waldorf music to Grades 4–8 and prepare lessons aligned with Waldorf and BC curricula.

Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s in Music and a BC Teaching Certificate; Waldorf training is preferred. Expect duties including reporting, parent meetings, progress evaluations, and collaboration with staff in an in-person setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Music or equivalent.
• BC Teaching Certificate or ability to qualify.
• Waldorf Training Certificate or willingness to begin training within two years of hire.
• Experience with and/or knowledge of Waldorf education.
• Waldorf teaching experience an asset.

Responsibilities

• Teach Waldorf music curriculum to Grades 4–8.
• Prepare lesson plans per Waldorf and BC curriculums.
• Report writing and parent meetings.
• Evaluation of student progress, oral and written reports.
• Parent interaction.
• Recess supervision.
• Committee work.
• Attend department and faculty meetings, concerts, and school events.
• Regular professional development sessions.

Job description

Opening Statement The Vancouver Waldorf School, located in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, is seeking a Cello Teacher for a temporary, part-time position. The available position will commence immediately. The conditions of this position may be modified to fit the right candidate.

Essential Job Duties

The applicant must have a Degree in Music and be able to acquire a BC Teaching Certificate upon hire. Waldorf teaching experience is preferred, and the applicant will be expected to prepare lesson plans per the Waldorf and BC Ministry of Education curriculums. The applicant must have strong classroom management skills and the ability to work with children with a range of abilities across different age groups. In addition to teaching the Waldorf school music curriculum to students in Grades 4-8, other duties will include:

• report writing and parent meetings
• evaluation of student progress, oral and written report writing and parent meetings
• parent interaction
• recess supervision
• committee work
• attendance at department and faculty meetings, concerts, and school-specific events
• regular professional development sessions

Employment Details

Salary: $36,945 to $66,137/year prorated to FTE (0.46) based on experience and credentials
