Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading and unloading.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Perform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
2. Verify documentation matches freight description (type, weight, hazardous materials) using electronic or manual systems.
3. Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and ropes.
4. Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
5. Complete required documentation and reports accurately.
6. Assist customers with freight and documentation as needed.
7. Perform hostling duties if required.
8. Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
2. Must be at least 18 years old.
3. Experience in warehousing, freight handling, or forklift operations preferred.
4. Experience with hostler/yard mule duties preferred.
5. Ability to perform basic math and count accurately.
6. Basic written and verbal communication skills.
7. Physical ability to lift/carry freight, open trailer doors, and handle dock plates as specified.
8. Ability to bend, twist, squat, push, and pull freight throughout shift.
9. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
10. Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. Dock environment with exposure to weather, fumes, dust, and noise.
2. Hours may vary based on operational needs.
3. Fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment with frequent contact with personnel.

Preferred Shift Time: 1400 - 2000

Pay Transparency: Compensation ranges from $20.54 to $24.03 per hour, based on experience and other factors. Benefits include health, vision, dental insurance, 401(k), bonuses, tuition reimbursement, and more.

Pay: Starting at $20.54/hour.
