Our Client, a growing logistics long haul company, is looking for a new Freight Coordinator to join its growing team. This National Transportation company runs their business with a commitment to Customer Service Excellence and trust, ensuring safe, on-time deliveries.
The Freight Coordinator is a member of our operations team and is primarily responsible for delivering a consistent, highly organized, effortless experience to our customers. They are the daily point of contact for our customers, so the people on this team need to be transportation experts who understand the complex details of executing the movement of our customers' cargo. They engage with each unique customer, understand their business, and work with them to achieve the best solution. This person is also in charge of execution – either by ensuring it’s in good hands with our asset-based dispatch team or by subcontracting the work to other carriers to facilitate freight movement.
With regular outreach to our customers, the Freight Coordinators drive our growth within each customer, significantly impacting the success of our business. Aside from being detailed technical experts, they must be hungry individuals who are highly organized, communicate well, and build strong relationships with their customers.
Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service to all of our clients.
- Follow up with customers daily or weekly depending on the agreement.
- Find cost-efficient shipment solutions to meet our customers’ needs.
- Manage damage claims with the customer and the carrier.
- Provide timely and accurate information to all clients.
- Actively track and trace the movement of customer freight.
- Follow up with carriers to ensure shipment pick-up and delivery times.
- Coordinate truck loads with company trucks to ensure the highest utilization of company assets. If company trucks are not available, proceed to book other carriers.
- Provide timely and accurate information to existing customers and new carriers regarding pricing.
- Provide spot quotes to customers.
- Onboard new carriers.
- Provide inside sales expertise to ensure we look after all our customers’ freight requirements.
- Select carriers that will ensure our customer’s needs are met or exceeded.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Working knowledge and experience in quoting and pricing freight.
- Working knowledge of weights and dimensions regulations, including trailer requirements for typical cargo dimensions.
- Familiarity with Canada and US geography, and realistic travel times.
- Demonstrate understanding of customs clearance workflows.
- Extremely proficient in the use of technology, systems, organizational tools, and understanding of processes that software systems facilitate.
- Basic understanding of hours-of-service regulations for both Canada and the US.
- Familiarity with the competitive environment and other carriers that service our network of customers.
- Detailed understanding of Carrier contracts and insurance.
- Detailed understanding of customer reporting and service expectations.
- Driven and Customer Service Focused with a high sense of urgency and excellent communication skills.
This position is based in South Calgary just outside of City Limits. It is an onsite position M-F. You must be legally able to work in Canada to be considered.
