Job summary

Chicopee is seeking a Freestyle Snowboard Coach for Snow School (Seasonal) to provide instruction to participants of all ages and abilities in a fun, inclusive and safe environment. You will maintain certifications and deliver high-quality coaching focused on skill development, confidence-building and guest satisfaction, while supporting recreation operations and ongoing professional development.

This seasonal role requires weekend/evening availability and a proactive, customer-focused approach

Qualifications

  • Certified and in good standing with CASI.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 20.4 kg (45 lbs) and performing physically demanding tasks.
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a passion for snow sports and instruction.
  • Must be flexible and available to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and during peak periods.

Position Title: Freestyle Snowboard Coach, Snow School (Seasonal)

Department: Recreation (Snow School)

Reports to: Manager Snow School, Supervisor Snow School or designate

Job Summary: Freestyle Snowboard Coaches will provide freestyle instruction to participants of all ages and skill levels in a fun, inclusive, and safe environment. They will deliver high-quality coaching focused on skill development, confidence-building, and a passion for skiing, all while ensuring exceptional guest experiences.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, effective coaching instruction tailored to various age groups and abilities.
  • Maintain up-to-date certifications and adhere to all teaching and safety standards.
  • Keep accurate and organized records of lessons, including attendance and plans.
  • Communicate effectively with students and parents to ensure high levels of satisfaction and feedback.
  • Ensure participant safety at all times through risk management and situational awareness.
  • Be punctual and adhere to uniform and grooming standards.
  • Attend all required pre-season corporate and department training sessions.
  • Participate in ongoing on-snow and professional development opportunities.
  • Actively work toward achieving higher levels of certification.
  • Support other departments as needed, based on operational
  • Represent Chicopee with a guest-first attitude at all times

Key Qualifications:

  • Certified and in good standing with the Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors (CASI)
  • CASI Park 1 Instructors
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 20.4 kg (45 lbs) and performing physically demanding tasks.
  • Comfortable working in all weather conditions.
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a passion for snow sports and instruction.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be flexible and available to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and during peak periods (e.g., Christmas, March Break)
  • Passionate about the outdoor and recreation industry
  • Approachable, empathetic, and a strong communicator
  • Must provide your own Black (logo-free) snow pants, CSA Z263.1, ASTM F2040, EN 1077, or Snell RS 98 certified ski/snowboard helmet and ski/snowboard equipment
  • During Dryland training, if applicable, provide and wear close toed comfortable shoes, athletic attire (with shorts at a minimum 5" inseam, and shirts at a minimum cap sleeve), and all black layering pieces, for warmth or element protection.
  • Other uniform items in accordance with Chicopee’s policy
  • A Chicopee uniform jacket will be provided upon receipt of a $100 refundable deposit and signed Uniform
  • You have, or can use our Human Resource platform to obtain, the following certificates: WHMIS; Ladder Safety; Ontario Health & Safety Awareness (OHSA); Workplace Violence & Harassment (Bill 168 & 132); Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA); IASR: Information and Communications Standards and Employment Standards; Understanding Human Rights; Safe Lifting; Gender and Sexual Diversity; Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB); Safe Food Handling (for Food and Beverage Employees) Training

Background Check:

  • A satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) is required if you are 18 years of age or older.
