About the workplace

As a Fraud & Security Engineer III, you will design and implement systems to detect and prevent fraud. This role requires strong technical, analytical, and communication skills, along with attention to detail. The engineer collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the fraud technology stack operates efficiently and aligns with the organization's strategic plans.

This is a permanent, full-time role that will enjoy remote working arrangements. Please note that applications are open only to candidates based in British Columbia.

A typical day would involve:

  • Design controls, define requirements, analyze data, and implement fraud and security solutions.
  • Develop security architectures and infrastructure designs which mitigate fraud risk and enhance fraud prevention.
  • Architect and maintain robust fraud prevention, detection, investigation, and data management systems while ensuring these systems are scalable, reliable, and capable of handling large volumes of data.
  • Lead security projects and initiatives to strengthen the organizations fraud and security posture.
  • Conduct fraud risk assessments, threat analysis, and assist risk owners with developing risk mitigation plans for new processes and technology.
  • Work in close collaboration with cross-functional teams including IT, Legal, and Compliance to implement and monitor fraud prevention strategies and measures.

You have:

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certifications such as Splunk Core Certified Power User, Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or equivalent.
  • Experience in Banking or Financial Institution industry.
  • Proven track record in designing and implementing fraud detection and prevention systems.
  • Experience in leading security projects and initiatives related to fraud and security.
  • Strong understanding of fraud risk assessments and the development of mitigation strategies.
  • Hands-on experience with data management systems that handle large volumes of transactional data.
  • Hands-on experience with Splunk: SPL, dashboards, alerts, and ad hoc queries.
  • Experience with Python, APIs, machine learning, SQL, and software development life cycle.
  • Knowledge of system architecture design and identity and access management best practices.

The salary range for this role is $91,000 to $136,400 annually. Base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
