Job summary

Giant Tiger is seeking candidates for a Franchisee-in-Training program to prepare leaders who will own and operate their own franchise stores. Training includes in-class sessions, mentorship, and hands-on experiences across Canadian stores, with regional exposure and development in entrepreneurial leadership.

Successful candidates will complete training in the Windsor-Chatham region and may advance to own a store.

Qualifications

• University or College certification in Business Administration, Retail Management, Operations Manager, or equivalent years of retail experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in retail environment with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
• Ability to coach and lead teams and adapt leadership styles to diverse team members.

Responsibilities

• Complete in-class training modules and mentored projects in Franchisee-in-Training program.
• Shadow current Franchisees and participate in in-store experiences across regions in Canada.
• Assist in store management, staff management, administration and reporting, and community engagement.

Workplace Arrangements

Working hours: Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays, as required. Travel: Must be willing to travel within the assigned region. Occasional overnight travel to our Home Office in Ottawa as well as other stores will be required. Region: The specific store within the region will be discussed during the first interviews, and generally, work will take place within 100km of that store unless applying to stores outside the region after completing the program.

What you will be doing

• In-Class Learning: Complete all training modules and assigned projects during the Franchisee in Training Program. Engage in formal mentorship to develop entrepreneurial and leadership skills.
• On-the-Job Learning: Participate in in-store experiences with leaders and their teams. Shadow current Franchisees across various regions in Canada. Work closely with staff and interact with customers in the community.

What You’ll Bring

• University or College certification in Business Administration, Retail Management, Operations Manager, a related field or equivalent years of retail experience
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in retail environment with at least 1 year in a supervisory role
• Ability to coach and lead teams, with the flexibility to adapt leadership styles to meet the diverse needs of team members
• Strong basic computer skills with a willingness and ability to quickly learn new software, systems, and adapt to GT procedures
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to convey ideas clearly, actively listen, and foster productive dialogue in both written and verbal forms
• Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to efficiently manage tasks, schedules, and projects
• Dedicated to community engagement, demonstrated by active participation in non-profit initiatives, recreational sports teams, and/or local organizations
• French is required in the French speaking provinces/regions

Assets You May Have

• Experience utilizing sales reports and customer feedback to interpret business trends and strategically enhance sales performance.
• Visual merchandising experience
• Prior experience with Workday or similar people management/scheduling platform
• Bilingualism in French and English

Salary

Salary $74,500.00 - $111,800.00

• Competitive Compensation: The salary range for this position is listed above. Giant Tiger will consider factors such as experience, skills and internal equity to ensure you are paid competitively.
• FIT Bonus: You’re eligible for a bonus opportunity equal to 16% of your eligible earnings during the Franchisee-in-Training (FIT) program. There are no individual or business performance measures, and payment is contingent on successful completion of all FIT program requirements.
