Job description

Horizon Recruitment is recruiting for an FP&A Lead on behalf of a well‑capitalized, high‑growth mineral development company based in British Columbia. As the company advances a major development project and continues to scale, it is creating its financial planning and analysis function for the first time. Reporting directly to the CFO, this newly created role will build the budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes that help guide business decisions across the organization. This is an opportunity for an experienced FP&A professional who enjoys creating structure, partnering with operational teams, and turning financial data into meaningful business insights. You'll play a key role in shaping how the company plans, measures performance, and supports long‑term growth.

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and manage the company's budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Develop reporting tools, dashboards, and templates that transform financial data into actionable insights.
  • Partner with operational and site teams to support planning, cost management, and business decision‑making.
  • Deliver financial analysis on budgets, forecasts, variances, and operating performance.
  • Build and maintain financial models to support forecasting, scenario planning, and strategic initiatives.
  • Work closely with the CFO on capital planning, major project reporting, and long‑term financial strategy.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process by coordinating input across departments and project teams.
  • Develop KPIs and management reporting that measure performance against business objectives.
  • Support corporate development activities, including strategic analysis, financing initiatives, and investor reporting.
  • Assist with financial modeling related to capital raises and other strategic transactions.
  • Monitor departmental spending and provide recommendations to improve financial performance.
  • Continuously enhance FP&A processes, reporting tools, and planning capabilities as the organization grows.
Requirements
  • 5 to 8 years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience building budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes from the ground up.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate clear recommendations.
  • Experience working with accounting systems and extracting data to support planning and analysis.
  • Strong business partnering skills with the ability to build relationships across finance and operations.
  • Comfortable working independently in a growing, evolving organization.
  • Experience in mining, natural resources, or another capital‑intensive industry is considered a strong asset.
  • CFA, CPA, MBA, or a related professional designation is an asset, though practical FP&A experience is the priority.
Remuneration
  • Base salary: $135,000 to $160,000, commensurate with experience.
  • Short‑term incentive target of 20% to 25%.
  • Long‑term equity incentive target of 25% to 30%, vesting over two years.
  • Competitive extended benefits package.
  • Hybrid work arrangement based in Metro Vancouver with a minimum of three days per week in the office.
  • Periodic travel to the project site.
