SALES ASSOCIATE COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
The Sales Associate must demonstrate competencies and skills that establish them as a sales generator and team player within the store. These competencies outline the skill set required for success in this role.
JOB DESCRIPTION - SALES ASSOCIATE
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide and ensure legendary customer experiences consistently.
- Prioritize customer focus, with all other tasks being secondary.
- Assist customers with wardrobe styling and share up-to-date fashion knowledge.
- Display expert product knowledge, including product details, company history, policies, and strategies.
- Meet sales expectations, achieve individual and team sales goals, and contribute to the store’s overall success.
- Collaborate effectively with others to build a strong store team.
- Work with Store Management to set goals for personal skills development.
- Assist with floor sets, window changes, and visual merchandising expectations.
- Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures.
- Follow scheduling needs and availability requirements.
- Perform POS transactions accurately, efficiently, and follow cash handling procedures.
- Maintain Loss Prevention awareness to protect the store from shortages.
- Assist with housekeeping responsibilities.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Outgoing personality capable of engaging openly with others.
- Proven ability to achieve individual sales goals and metrics.
- Customer service experience required.
- Demonstrated sales accountability.
- Strong leadership skills and a desire to succeed.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Receptiveness to feedback from management and peers.
PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift, bend, open, and move products and fixtures up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb step stools and ladders.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Willingness to travel to other store locations and attend district meetings.
- This position involves continuous movement, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for long durations. May involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with customers, peers, and management.
