Job description

KMC specializes in high-performance alloys and friction materials from raw materials to finished products under one roof in Orillia, Canada. Manufacturing unique heat resistant alloys and high nickel/chrome alloys primarily for the petrochemical industries, Kubota leads the industry in quality and advanced technology. As per customer requirements, Kubota designs and casts centrifugal pipes and static castings of fittings which are then machined, welded (Automatic, Semi-Automatic, Orbital & Manual) GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, followed by in house NDT (RT, PT, VT), in house DT, R&D lab, as well as hydro testing.

Summary:

Responsible for supporting both the Centrifugal and Static Foundry facets of the Engineering Department. This position will have influence on the ability to win contracts against competitors and achieve profit margins for Kubota Materials Canada Corporation.

Major Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Formulate manufacturing methods to meet quality and production requirements.
  • Design and purchase required patterns, tooling, jigs, fixtures that are necessary for production; within budget and delivery timelines.
  • Implement and issue manufacturing instructions.
  • Investigate and correct foundry problems, quality and cost variances and advise corrective action with the assistance from other foundry technologists.
  • Create Bill of Materials, process routings to allow manufacture of foundry components.
  • Support quoting activities for new work, as needed.
  • Provide solidification modelling, as required.
  • Provide 3D modelling, as required.
  • Support the goals and objectives for the engineering department to ensure alignment.
  • Support Kubota Global Identity, with the Brand and Spirit statements of Kubota Materials Canada Corporation.

Education, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a Technical Field from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in an engineering role in a manufacturing environment.
  • CAD experience is required.
  • Experience with pattern-making and design considered an asset.
  • Experience with AutoCAD/Inventor system would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in the use of Solidification Modelling would be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated training or experience with lean methodology for process improvement.
  • Demonstrated the ability to independently identify issues, plan improvements, measure success and continue improvement.
  • Demonstrate excellent presentation skills.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exposure to manufacturing resource planning software.
  • Strong interpersonal and technical communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
