At our Long Island Reload facility based in Yaphank, we handle building materials, bulk cement, sand, aggregates, and bulk liquid products. We provide custom handling, inventory management and other services. We are a growing division and backed by an organization that employs over 1300 people. Responsibilities
Lumber, steel and other commodities will arrive at the facility by truck or rail. We are looking for forklift operators to safely and efficiently transfer these commodities to truck, rail or container for furtherance. Product may also be unloaded and stored in inventory.
Major Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts to handle various weight capacities (under and over 12,000lbs.)
- Loading and unloading product from trucks, railcars or containers
- Support inventory control (inbound/outbound/on ground) and accurately document
- Ability to prepare load plans for railcar, truck and/or container
- Complete time sheets
- Comply with all rules and regulations, protocols and established metrics
- Follow all workplace safety policies and compliance regulations, participate in identifying hazards
- Ability to understand cross training on all functions at facility
- Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment
- Inspect and verify product condition to ensure cleanliness and compliance with loading procedures
- Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew
- Accurately weigh and document materials
- Provide production data on tags or labels
- Provide internal and external Customer Service excellence
- May be asked to travel to other transload terminals to assist if necessary
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
You Possess
- Previous Forklift certification required and relevant experience required
- Strong safety mindset
- Quality oriented
- Needs to be responsible, accountable and dependable
- Demonstrates strong communication skills both verbally and written
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Exceptionally high level of hand-eye coordination
- Experience with routine maintenance operations
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions (snow, rain, sub-freezing temps, heat, wind)
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
- Good physical condition
- Can carry at least 50 lbs and swing a 10 lbs sledge hammer
- Experience working with computers an asset
