Job Title: Forklift Operator Weekends

Job Description

This weekend forklift operator role is based in a high-volume food distribution warehouse that supports grocery retailers across Ontario. You will use material handling equipment and RF scanners to pick and build palletized orders of meat and frozen products. The position is hands-on, physically active, and offers structured training on additional equipment over time.

Responsibilities

• Report directly to the meeting board at the start of each shift to receive assignments and updates.
• Sign out and operate an RF scanner and stand-up forklift equipment such as a dock stocker or similar material handling equipment.
• Review RF scanner instructions to determine assigned locations and order requirements.
• Perform case picking by following RF scanner orders (for example, selecting specific quantities of bacon, chicken wings, and other products).
• Build complete pallets while driving the forklift, using manual handling to lift and place cases weighing approximately 530 lbs, with capability up to 50 lbs.
• Stage completed pallets in designated areas and promptly move on to the next RF scanner order.
• Focus on case picking for the first 34 months to learn processes and performance expectations.
• After the initial period, participate in training on reach trucks for high-level case picking and, as needed, assist with tasks in receiving.
• Operate safely and efficiently in refrigerated and freezer environments during all seasons.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and collaborative work area and follow all warehouse safety procedures and equipment guidelines.

Essential Skills

• 6 months of experience operating a reach truck or dock stocker (stand-up forklift).
• Previous experience working in a warehouse environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, with regular handling of cases in the 530 lb range.
• Comfort working in refrigerated and freezer environments in all seasons.
• Experience with order picking using warehouse forklifts.
• Ability to use RF scanners to read and follow picking instructions.
• Strong attention to safety and adherence to warehouse procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Access to a vehicle is an asset due to the warehouse location.
• Experience with dock stockers, reach trucks, and other warehouse material handling equipment.
• Familiarity with high-level case picking and receiving processes is an advantage.
• Reliability and consistency in weekend shift attendance.
• Ability to work effectively in a bright, collaborative team environment.

Work Environment

You will regularly use RF scanners and stand-up forklifts such as dock stockers and reach trucks in this environment. Cold-weather gear, including jackets, snow pants, hats, and gloves, is provided to support comfort and safety while working. Weekend shifts focus on consistent, high-volume case picking and pallet building within a structured, safety-conscious facility.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Puslinch, ON.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.50 - $26.25/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
