Job summary

Soprema in Tillsonburg, Ontario is hiring a warehouse forklift operator. You will unload finished products, organize inventory, and move goods using a forklift, ensuring safety and efficiency on the production floor.

You will operate handheld scanners, work with SDS data, and collaborate with receiving, shipping, and production teams to maintain smooth operations while complying with health and safety standards. Prior manufacturing experience is an asset.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Forklift driving experience required.
• Experience using handheld scanners and tablets.
• Knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and safety practices.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse.
• Health and safety standards compliance.
• Aptitude with basic computing and ERP systems (GPAO/AS-400) is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Unload finished product from the production line in a timely manner.
• Classify and place finished products in correct warehouse locations.
• Operate forklift safely and efficiently.
• Perform pre-startup inspections on forklift.
• Dock forklift at shift end and connect charging cables.
• Learn how production line segments work.
• Support production line during start-ups and changeovers.
• Perform weekly inventory of finished goods and rotate stock.
• Train peers as needed.
• Ensure workplaces meet cleanliness and safety standards.
• Suggest improvements to production and health/safety.
• Support receiving department in the reception of raw materials.
• Support shipping by loading trucks with finished products.
• Back up operator unloading chemicals from trains/trucks into tanks.
• Backup operator on production line as priorities demand.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

Job description

THE CHALLENGES WE HAVE FOR YOU

• Unload finished product from the production line in a timely manner, without creating a bottleneck;
• Classify, identify, arrange finished products in appropriate locations in the warehouse;
• Operate the forklift in a safe and efficient manner;
• Do pre-startup inspections on the forklift to ensure safe operation of the machine;
• Properly dock the forklift at the end of the shift and connect the charging cables to the battery;
• Learn how certain segments of the production line work;
• Support the production line during production start-up and changeovers;
• Carry out the weekly physical inventory of finished products and ensure their rotation;
• Participate and provide necessary training to peers in order to perform the work as required;
• Ensure that workplaces meet the company's standards of cleanliness and safety;
• Suggest any measures aimed at improving production activities and occupational health/safety.
• Support the receiving department in the reception of raw materials ranging from chemical totes, paper coils, etc;
• Support the shipping department in loading trucks with finished products if necessary;
• Support the unloader for rail cars by working as a backup operator to unload chemicals from trains / trucks into the tanks;
• Work as a backup operator on the production line based on production priorities if necessary;
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the management.

Your Education :

• High school degree

Your Knowledge :

• Driving a forklift (Asset);
• Use of handheld scanners and tablets to scan part labels;
• Training in handling hazardous materials (an asset);
• GPAO software: AS/400 (an asset);
• Basic computing skills;
• Experience in a manufacturing plant (asset);
• Health and Safety Standards.
• Ability to consult and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

The Work Conditions :
