Job description

We are seeking a skilled Forklift Operator who will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness in the dock area, unloading and loading trailers, and performing administrative tasks. The role involves operating a forklift for approximately 50% of your duties, and flexibility is required for various tasks. Initial training occurs in the mornings from 7am to 12 : 30pm, transitioning to independent work from 4 am - 12 pm Monday through Friday.

This position is based in Nanaimo, in a smaller facility of 6000 square feet with four docks. The work culture is fast-paced and multicultural, encouraging independence and initiative within a team of ten. The dress code requires steel-toe boots, and shifts run Monday to Friday from 4am to 12pm. The environment supports a hit-the-ground-running approach, ensuring a dynamic and engaging workplace.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness in the dock area.
• Unload and load trailers using a forklift.
• Perform administrative tasks including basic computer functions, data entry into Truck Mate, printing paperwork, and answering emails.
• Operate a Sit Down Counterbalance Forklift for loading and unloading trailers.
• Minimum of 6 months experience operating a Sit Down Counterbalance Forklift.
• Good computer skills, including experience with typing and answering emails.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• General knowledge of cities north of Nanaimo.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 2-5+ years of forklift experience.
• Experience with TruckMate software.
