Key Responsibilities:

  • Determine boundary and road layout for future harvesting
  • Assess riparian features
  • Traverse boundary and road locations for map creation
  • Crossing and site plan data collection
  • Ecology type identification and stratification
  • Map and identify logging hazards
  • Complete road engineering estimates and appraisal data field survey
  • Remote camping and wilderness exploration
  • Complete timber reconnaissance and stand level timber type stratification
  • Assist timber cruiser in the field with data collection
  • Ability to complete job duties in physically strenuous and varying terrains
  • Other duties as required

Experience and Knowledge Expectations:

  • 1 year of Forestry-related experience
  • Post-secondary education in natural resources, forestry or a related field is an asset
  • A valid B.C. Class 5 Driver's License, or equivalent, and a current Driver’s Abstract
  • Previous experience operating ATVs and pick-up trucks safely on various road conditions is an asset
  • Preference may be given to candidates holding a valid BC Intermediate or Advanced First Aid certification, or equivalent
  • Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing required for safety sensitive positions including positions with driving responsibilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Punctuality, dependability, and accountability in the field
  • The ability to work away from home for scheduled periods of time
  • Experience using GPS, avenza, and other mapping programs
  • Experience working with chainsaws would be considered an asset
  • A safety conscious attitude
  • A love of the outdoors
