Job summary

Nurture the Nature Forest School is seeking a Forest School Educator/Facilitator to join our outdoors-first program on Thursdays beginning Fall 2026, with potential for more days as enrollment grows.

This role requires experience outdoors with children, a deep understanding of Forest School pedagogy, and the ability to design learning invitations and provocations that invite curiosity and confident exploration in nature.

Qualifications

• Experience working directly with children outdoors.
• Strong understanding of Forest School philosophy and child-led learning.
• Experience with emergent curriculum, inquiry-based learning, and play- and place-based approaches.
• Ability to observe children's interests and translate observations into invitations or provocations.
• Current First Aid/CPR or willingness to obtain before starting.
• Ability to work outdoors for a full program day in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the team to co-create and facilitate a dynamic Forest School program rooted in children's interests and the natural environment.
• Observe children's play and questions to support an emergent curriculum.
• Design and set up learning invitations and environments using natural materials and loose parts.
• Facilitate outdoor experiences including nature exploration, hikes, games, and storytelling.
• Engage with children during both facilitated experiences and child-led play.
• Support children's social-emotional development and independence.
• Prepare and maintain learning spaces and equipment.
• Complete daily site and risk assessments when required.
• Communicate observations and concerns with families and program lead.
