Job Summary And Requirements

This is to fill one (1) full-time permanent position working 75 hours bi-weekly.

The Forest Management Branch is responsible for management of Yukon's forest resources and is committed to responsible and sustainable development. The branch is continually working to improve processes and effectively align its resources with the needs of its clients. A strong emphasis on integrity and professional conduct contributes to building and maintaining relationships with various agencies within the Government of Yukon and other levels of government.

The Forest Management Legislation Advisor and Negotiator is the key policy and legislation leader in charge of amendments to and implementation of the Forest Resources Act and strategic planning. This role is responsible for leading and coordinating the development, research, implementation and revision of forest resources, legislation, regulations, and policy as well as regional forest planning, to support the sustainable development and management of Yukon’s forest resources.

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree in natural resources, forest management, public administration or a related field
  • Experience planning, leading, and providing direction, advice and recommendations on complex natural resource issues

  • Experience leading and coordinating natural resource projects, plans or project teams
  • Experience facilitating working groups and multi-party consultation and/or engagement processes

Candidates who have a combination of education, training and experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.
