Position Summary




SHIFT: Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM

Oversees and performs work associated with the installation, maintenance and repair of building structural systems and their related appurtenances, including but not limited to masonry and wood working, window, door, wall, floor and ceiling systems, foundations, roofs, waterproofing and structural systems. All work is to be performed in accordance with University policies, recognized industry standards, procedures and techniques as well as all applicable codes, local laws, and directives.






Qualifications




Required Education:
Trade school or high school diploma

Required Experience:
5 years of hands-on carpentry work experience for general building maintenance.

Preferred Experience:
Experience in higher education, healthcare, telecom, or other sensitive facilities where high levels of performance and reliability are required.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Working knowledge and understanding of building structural systems and the related appurtenances, including but not limited to masonry and wood working, window, door, wall, floor and ceiling systems, foundations, roofs, waterproofing and structural systems. Ability to understand University and Departmental policies and procedures, recognized industry standards, procedures and techniques as well as all applicable codes, local laws, and directives.Skill in maintenance, repair and new installation of structural building systems. Ability to review architectural and mechanical drawings. 2-5 years of experience in a foreman position, preferably in a large residential complex;Knowledge of P.C database and word processing software packages; Excellent communication skills. Ability to work effectively in an environment subject to frequently changing priorities. Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather and to physically cope with extreme weather conditions.Ability to follow through and carry out assignments, using problem solving skills and sound judgment.Ability to lift large, heavy (50-100 lbs.) and bulky items.Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and lift for long periods.Ability to climb a 20ft. ladderAbility to work in confined areas.Must be willing to work varied shifts.Must be able to work evenings and weekends and to respond to occasional emergencies.






Additional Information




In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is USD $52.500. This rate is based on bargaining unit contracts. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
