Job summary

North Bay Regional Health Centre is seeking a skilled nurse for the Mental Health & the Law Program – Heron Lodge. The role focuses on forensic psychiatric assessment, treatment, and community reintegration for adults in conflict with the law, supported by an inter-professional team.

Required are registration with the Ontario College of Nurses, a current BLS certification, and 2–3 years of forensic mental health experience. Bilingual English/French is required.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current Basic Life Support (HCP) certificate within the last 12 months.
• GPA training is an asset for patient interactions and de-escalation.
• Minimum 2–3 years experience with individuals who have serious mental illness in a forensic setting.
• Knowledge of forensic nursing, risk management, and related legislation.
• Familiarity with Ontario Review Board disposition orders and community reintegration.
• Ability to interpret forensic mental health legislation and apply it in practice.
• Experience with dual diagnosis programming and culturally competent care.
• Ability to respond to all emergency codes and ensure safety of staff and patients.
