Job summary

North Bay Regional Health Centre is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse for the Acute Inpatient Psychiatry Unit in Nipissing District. This role delivers 24/7 psychiatric care, including assessments, pharmacological management, and discharge planning within a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements include CNO registration, current BLS within 12 months, 1–2 years mental health experience, and bilingual English/French.

Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Registration with College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing is required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers certificate within the last 12 months is required.
• GPA certificate is an asset.
• 1–2 years mental health experience in an active care setting within the last 2–3 years is required.
• Knowledge of the Mental Health Act is required; other acts/regs asset.
• Knowledge of psychotropic medications and symptom management is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in the Acute Inpatient Psychiatry Unit (AIPU).
• Conduct thorough mental health status and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to plan and implement care.
• Support safety and prevention of adverse health events.
• Deliver health teaching to patients and families; participate in discharge planning.
