Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care in Ontario is seeking a temporary full-time Registered Nurse for Beckwith A. You will provide psychiatric nursing care, perform physical assessments, and lead inter-professional teams in complex forensic patient care.

The role emphasizes safety, therapeutic relationships, and community reintegration planning. Responsibilities include developing treatment plans, risk assessment, and adherence to nursing standards.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
• Valid certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) with Oxygen Therapy and Airway Management.
• Preference for Forensic Mental Health experience or knowledge of forensic healthcare processes.
• Experience in high secure facility settings is advantageous.
• Experience in leadership roles such as Team Lead or Charge Nurse.
• Knowledge of medical and mental health nursing theory and practice.
• Familiarity with mental health medications and treatment modalities is an asset.
• Recent mental health nursing experience in a facility or service is preferred.
• Strong patient safety knowledge and emergency care procedures.
• Proven written and verbal communication skills and adaptability.

Responsabilités

• Provide leadership in nursing services within inter-professional teams, especially when patient conditions are complex and outcomes are unpredictable.
• Assess patient condition and needs, develop and implement treatment and discharge plans.
• Develop therapeutic nurse-patient relationships and provide education for community reintegration.
• Observe, assess, document, and report patient condition; adjust plans as needed; assess risk to self/others.
• Contribute to a safe, therapeutic environment in line with standards and policies.
