Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years experience in heavy civil construction.
• Valid Class G Driver’s license required for site travel between job sites and meetings.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and schedules.
• Proven track record supervising diverse, multi-trade crews and coordinating subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and oversee day-to-day construction activities on site, ensuring safety and on-time completion.

• Inspect work in progress to verify compliance with design, quality, and environmental standards.
• Track daily production, crew hours, equipment usage, and incidents; report findings.
• Assist in identifying and implementing solutions to on-site challenges to keep projects on track.

What will my role be?

The foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating daily field operations on site to ensure the project is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with plans, specifications, and schedules. Serving as the primary point of contact between field crews and management, the foreman plays a critical role in maintaining productivity and quality on heavy civil construction projects such as roads, bridges, utilities, earthworks, and other infrastructure.

As a Foreman, you will:

• Minimum 5 years experience within the heavy civil construction sector: Extensive hands-on experience in areas like roadbuilding, grading, sewer/watermain, or bridge work demonstrates your capability to manage crews, anticipate challenges, and keep projects moving forward.
• Proven Experience Supervising Diverse Teams: Having led multi-trade crews or coordinated subcontractors in the past shows you can communicate clearly, delegate effectively, and foster a productive team environment under tight deadlines.
• Track Record of Managing High-Stakes Projects Safely and On-Schedule: Being able to reference past projects where you delivered results speaks volumes about your leadership style and attention to detail.
• Training or Certification in Supervisory Health & Safety, WHMIS and Working at Heights: Formal safety training isn’t just a requirement—it shows your dedication to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
• Flexibility to Work Extended or Variable Hours, as needed: Projects don’t always stick to a 7–5 schedule. A willingness to adjust hours as required to meet deadlines demonstrates leadership by example.
• Comfort in Construction Technology (Ie. tablets, digital drawing viewers, GPS layout tools, etc.): Familiarity with field technology helps streamline communication, track progress, and ensure accuracy in real-time.
