Job summary

Kichton Construction LP in Fort McMurray is seeking an experienced Foreperson to lead heavy equipment crews on reclamation projects. You will train, mentor, and coordinate teams, equipment, and materials to deliver safe, efficient outcomes.

The role requires mining/oilsands background and a strong safety mindset. The position reports to the General Foreman and involves 12-hour shifts with a bus schedule and site-based operations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a construction supervisory role.
  • Mining/oilsands experience required.
  • Familiar and comfortable working in a production environment.
  • A safety-first attitude.
  • An excellent communicator and a good listener.
  • Must be proficient in English, both verbally and written
  • Have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a good driver's abstract
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test

Responsibilities

  • Review, understand, and follow all safe work practices and procedures.
  • Lead, train and mentor employees in safe work practices.
  • Maintain regular communication with Supervisors and Project Managers regarding project processes, risks, and forecasts.
  • Ensure materials needed are ordered and available.
  • Facilitate morning toolbox talks and site/company meetings.
  • Ensure employees review, understand, and follow all company policies.
  • Coach, mentor, train and when necessary discipline employees who are not meeting performance standards or that violate company policies.
  • Complete daily documentation thoroughly, including: FLHAs, timesheets, pre/post-inspections of all tools and equipment, and any other paperwork required.
  • Report incidents, near misses, equipment damage, and hazards to Supervisors immediately.
  • Groundwork/operate equipment and work on the tools as required.
  • Represent the Company in a positive and professional manner - leading by example.

Job Description

The Role We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Foreperson to train, lead and mentor our heavy equipment crews doing reclamation work. The Foreperson is responsible for facilitating and organizing all crews, equipment, and materials to complete work scopes in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner. The ideal candidate has worked in the Fort McMurray oilsands before and has mining, industrial and heavy civil construction experience. This position is project based and reports into the General Foreman.

Kichton Construction LP is the Fort McMurray based Heavy Civil entity within the Kichton Group of companies which has been operating since 1963. Kichton Construction LP commenced operations in 2019 as the industrial division of the Kichton Group to serve the Energy and Mining Industries throughout North America. Since inception, KCLP has grown sustainably and exponentially, starting with 30 experienced team members in 2019, to now over 400 team members and over 300 pieces of heavy equipment. KCLP is proud to continue operating alongside our Community Partner, the Chipewyan Prairie First Nation, as part of our NOHA/Kichton Joint-Venture.

Location/Project Details
  • Syncrude, Mildred Lake
  • 12-hour days (paid for 11.5 hours). 14 days on, 7 off. Days and Nights.
  • No accommodations, LOA provided
  • Busing provided from town to site.
Compensation/Benefits
  • $45.00 to $ 48.00 per hour with OT at 1.5 x the regular rate (bi-weekly pay).
  • OT after 8 hours per day.
  • 9.6% Vacation and Statutory Holiday pay on all regular hours paid out bi-weekly.
  • Extended health, dental, vison, travel and paramedical coverage after 90 days.
