Job description

We are looking for experienced Civil Foreman to join our rapidly growing team! If you enjoy mentoring others and have significant civil foreman experience, this is the role for you!

The Opportunity:

The Civil Foreman will be responsible for supervising and coordinating daily activities of the crews, working with the Superintendent to plan work and coordinating with Dispatch to ensure all necessary resources (people, materials, and equipment) are in place each day.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide direction to the crews at the beginning of each day and then keep the crews updated and on track with the daily schedule, providing advice and guidance.
  • Work with the crew, client and superintendent to understand upcoming requirements and communicate with the Dispatcher in organizing the daily activities of the job.
  • Ensure forward planning in the ordering of materials and setting up sub-contractors for layout, delivery of supplies, density and pressure testing, proof rolls, beam tests, etc.
  • Responsible for communicating job progress, information and updates to inspectors and internal departments.
  • Ensure pre-locate are performed for all existing utilities that may conflict with job site activities.
  • Attend meetings to discuss job production, schedule, conflicts and provide toolbox updates to crews.
  • Ensure accurate and daily reporting of timesheets and work orders are provided to head office.
  • Organize and complete an inventory of materials at jobs end for removal from site.
  • Responsible for training and development of crews.
  • Understand and support full compliance with Mainland HSE requirements and incorporating health, safety & quality into all aspects of planning and executing projects and scope of work.
  • Understand and support full compliance with Mainland Quality Management System (QMS) in order to ensure the integrity of the QMS is maintained.

Qualifications, Experience & Skillset

  • Must have related construction experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Lead Hand or Foreman with a solid understanding of all aspects of civil works - especially in pipe or road.
  • Must be able to communicate positively and effectively with a variety of individuals.
  • Strong mentoring and leadership skills - ability to coach and train all members of the crew while assisting them with responsibilities.
  • Experience with reviewing plans and applying the knowledge to the work.
  • First aid, confined space, and fall protection training is an asset.
  • Flexibility with hours, including weekends if required.
  • Must be able to interact with professionalism and courtesy with all clients and members of the public.
  • Ability to work outside in all types of weather, along with additional hours as needed (possibly weekends).
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Drivers License with satisfactory drivers abstract. Will be required to go to job sites across the Lower Mainland.
  • Must be local to the Lower Mainland.
