Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ truck and trailer maintenance knowledge and experience.
  • Previous Lead Hand or Foreman experience preferred.
  • Valid provincial driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.

The primary responsibility of the Foreman is to ensure safe, quality and timely repairs in the Service Centre, while dedicating a percentage of your time to repairing customer equipment. This is done effectively through supervision of Truck, Trailer and Tanker Technicians, assignment of work and quality of job completion, educating the team on safe operating procedures, managing a safe workplace, and raising awareness of hazards. Monitoring Technicians to ensure performance is up to standard and problem solving by eliminating waste, is key to improving throughput for customers and the efficiency of the Service Centre operation. This is a working Foreman role.

Duties:

  • Ensure all work being performed is done following healthy and safety guidelines and escalate any concerns to management.
  • Supervise and coach team of technicians to ensure safe, quality repairs to GoRight standards.
  • Ensure all shop tooling and equipment is in safe working condition.
  • Communicate safety, productivity, and quality expectation with technicians for each job.
  • Monitor performance on each job and provide feedback to Technicians and planning team.
  • Open/close shop for shift start up and shut down.
  • Communicate and prepare shift hand off information at end of each shift.
  • Ensure proper swipe in/swipe out procedures are followed.
  • Advise shunt driver on jobs in/out of shop and equipment to be staged.
  • Monitor jobs and escalate issues, to avoid any problems or delays proactively.
  • Continuously monitor shop organization and complete daily checklist utilizing the Mirlin Connect app and other tools as appropriate.
  • Monitor Technician work order times in the system to ensure accuracy.
  • Monitor job times to completion targets and communicate to Technicians.
  • Involve Parts Planner immediately in any parts required on shop floor.
  • Ensure warranty parts and information are captured as required.
  • Move equipment in/out of the service centre as required.
  • Conduct daily shift startup huddles.
  • Perform inbound/outbound equipment inspections as required.
  • Ensure all work done on the shop floor is documented on work orders.
  • Maintain courteous and respectful communication and presentation at all times with customers and employees.
  • Communicate with customers on job requirements and completion as required.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Standard Work Instructions to ensure adherence and identify areas for improvement.
  • Other work as may be assigned.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent with trade training.
  • Red Seal Truck and Transport License or Licensed 310J, 310T with adequate trailer repair experience.
  • Previous Lead Hand or Foreman experience preferred.
  • Valid provincial driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ truck and trailer maintenance knowledge and experience.
  • Strong technical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Sound computer skills.
