Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate nurses to provide specialized foot care services in residents in Long Term Care facilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in nursing, particularly in medical foot care, and a strong commitment to patient education and comfort. You will collaborate with a supportive, multidisciplinary clinic team to ensure each patient receives the best possible care tailored to their individual needs. Key Responsibilities
Maintain a consistent and predictable treatment schedule
Provide a list of treated residents for billing purposes. Individual statements for residents' tax claims will be an added bonus
Perform comprehensive foot assessments for clients with various health conditions and foot related concern.
Provide medical foot care services such as general foot care, nail trimming and filing, diabetic foot care, non-surgical ingrown toenail removal, thick nail reduction, corn removal and callus reduction
Educate patients and their families on proper foot hygiene and best routine care practices
Develop personalized patient care plans in collaboration with clinic team
Monitor and document changes in clients’ foot health by electronic charting on Point Click Care (PCC)
Develop rapport with patients and ensure positive patient experiences
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to infection control protocols
Conduct treatments in residents' rooms to ensure privacy
Work effectively with residents who may have cognitive decline or challenges in understanding
Qualifications
Currently registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
Advanced and Diabetic Foot Care Certification is required.
Prior experience in foot care is an asset
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Valid G driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
Ability to effectively manage time and priorities
Ability to work independently and within a team
Computer knowledge and has the ability to learn proprietary software. Proficiency in Microsoft Word preferred
Requirements
Must have valid Ontario Driver’s license and reliable vehicle
Clear and current CNO registration
RNAO or RPNAO liability insurance maintained
Preferably, candidates will have their own equipment/tools
Clear Vulnerable Sector check within 6 months
TB test within validity period (dependent on facility but usually within 12 months)
Other immunizations depending on facility requirements
Minimum two professional references
