Job Summary & Responsibilities
Abbotsford Senior Secondary is home to a vibrant and diverse student population of over 1300. We are a growing school that is home to the Integrated Studies Program, International Baccalaureate Program, Soccer Academy, Film and Broadcasting Program and so much more. The successful applicant will teach Foods 9, Social Studies 10, Careers 10 & English Language Learning Support.

The starting annual salary for this full-time Secondary School Teacher position ranges from $61,838 to $108,458, with placement on the July 1, 2024 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

Education & Experience

  • Major/minor in History or related Social Science
  • Degree in Technical Education Specializing in Home Economics
  • Experience teaching Home Economics, Social Studies, Career courses at the Secondary level
  • Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) Certificate from an accredited program
  • Training and experience administering and interpreting IPT Assessments
  • Familiarity with IELTS instruction
  • Familiarity of the BC ELL Standards
  • Experience teaching ELL learners at the Secondary level
  • Experience using technology to facilitate language acquisition
  • Eligible for Abbotsford Academic English Language Program certificate
  • Eligible for B.C. Certification
  • Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports
