Job summary

C.H. Guenther & Son, Inc. is seeking a Food Technologist to support R&D during plant trials and first production, update recipes in the system, test products and materials, and troubleshoot on the line while upholding GMP, HACCP and safety policies.

You will collaborate with QA, planning and operations, lead trials, manage R&D materials, and ensure product quality during initial production runs. A science background and strong communication skills are essential for success.

Job description

In this role as Food Technologist, he/she will report and support the R&D Scientist during plant trials and first production, updating and revising recipes in the system, testing products/raw materials and troubleshooting on the line while ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures, Good Manufacturing practices, Health & Safety, product safety and customer satisfaction Will demonstrate, promote and exemplify the Company’s Core Values in Health & Safety, People, Quality/ Food Safety and Growth.

Responsibilities

• Assist in organizing plant trials in collaboration with purchasing, planning, QA and operations teams.
• Execute and lead plant trials, document results and prepare reports for the completed trials/tests in a timely manner.
• Manage R&D raw materials inventory (reception, labeling, storing and updating R&D bin tracking file).
• Monitor first production(s) of new products and ensure adherence to product quality.
• Provide support for product renovation and recipe consolidation.
• Assist in new raw materials testing in the plant.
• Maintain the Ingredients substitution list by being involved in the ingredient consolidation process.
• Initiate the creation and revision of recipe BOM in SAP and keep recipe change log up to date.
• Assist in the norms and FG BOM creation.
• Assist in day-to-day concerns or issues in production at both 575 and 610, with regards to product quality, including raw materials sensory/testing and process validation.
• Data collection and validation as R&D offer support to Engineering and Manufacturing departments.
• Sensory evaluation of products from plant trials/production monitoring and VQS preparation.
• Collect raw materials/finished products required by CHG Montreal and arrange for shipment.
• Prepare product sample requests for sales team and customers.
• Maintain a clean and organized R&D kitchen and the surrounding work areas.
• Assist with filing and organizing R&D files.
• Effective implementation and adherence to company’s Food Safety and Quality Policies and Procedures including but not limited to SQF, HACCP and GMP to ensure food safety and quality of products manufactured.

The salary range for this role is: $56,250.00 - $90,000.00 CAD This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as the final offer amount may vary based on factors including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, along with geographic location.
