Job summary

Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care invites applications for a Food Services Supervisor to join the team preparing the Ng Siu Chan Care Centre for opening in early 2027. You will help set up systems, recruit and coach staff, and ensure safe, nutritious meals reflect residents' cultural needs.

Qualifications include a 2-year diploma or a related degree, CSNM membership eligibility, current Food Handler certification, and a Vulnerable Sector Screen.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in food services supervision/management.
• Bachelor's in Nutrition, Dietetics or Hotel Management is acceptable.
• CSNM membership and OSNM eligibility are preferred.
• Current Food Handler Safety Certificate and police screen are required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily food production and service in line with legislation and Yee Hong policies.
• Lead and support Food Services staff to ensure high-quality service.
• Monitor residents' dietary needs and preferences, collaborating with the Dietitian.
• Supervise food preparation, ensure safety and sanitation standards are met.
• Maintain clean, safe kitchen and dining areas.
• Assist with food ordering, inventory, and equipment upkeep.
• Participate in resident care conferences and quality initiatives.

As part of the Ng Siu Chan Centre, the Food Services Supervisor helps ensure every resident receives safe, nutritious, and enjoyable meals that reflect their individual preferences and dietary needs. This role brings Yee Hong’s Relationship-Centred Care philosophy to the dining experience while supporting a strong Food Services team and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

What You Will Do

• Support the Food Services Manager in overseeing daily food production and service in accordance with legislation, Ministry standards, and Yee Hong policies.
• Lead, coach, and support Food Services staff to ensure effective daily operations and high-quality service.
• Monitor residents’ food intake, dietary needs, preferences, and concerns, collaborating with the Dietitian as needed.
• Meet with new residents to understand their food preferences and dining needs.
• Supervise food preparation and ensure food quality, temperatures, sanitation, and safety standards are consistently maintained.
• Maintain clean, safe, and well-functioning kitchen and dining areas.
• Support food ordering, inventory management, equipment maintenance, and departmental resources.
• Participate in resident care conferences and contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives.
• Support catering and special food service functions as required.
• Stay current with food service best practices and regulatory requirements.

What You Will Bring

• Graduate of a recognized 2-year diploma program in food services supervision or management, or a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or Hotel Management; membership of the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management; and eligible for membership in Ontario Society of Nutrition Management.
• Current Food Handler Safety Certificate.
• Minimum 1 year experience in quantity food production, supervisory experience in food production preferred.
• Ability to communicate in Chinese or Japanese is an asset.
• Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen.
