Ivy Meadows in Beaverbank, Nova Scotia is hiring and currently accepting applications for Dietary Aide - Food Service Worker and Housekeeper to join the team.

Department: Nursing Services

Responsible to: Bonnie Porter, Manager

Qualifications:

1. Grade 12 or equivalent of Grade 12
2. WHMIS is considered an asset
3. Ability to work well with others
4. Food handlers Certification
5. Ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis according to the Northwood Corporate Standards
6. Comfortable using email, Word and Excel

Responsibilities:

1. Maintains a safe and clean environment using safe food handling practices, universal precautions and WHMIS
2. Ensures workplaces are organized and appropriately set up for work
3. Demonstrates good judgement and respect when using and storing facility equipment
4. Reports maintenance needs of equipment
5. Observes fire and safety regulations
6. Adheres to safe work practices
7. Practices proper body mechanics
8. Acts as a resource for other staff and assists in orientation of new employees
9. Maintains par levels as required
10. Accurately completes food temperature, food waste and quality audits taking appropriate action as needed
11. Assembles resident meals according to set portions and appropriate diets
12. Accurately labels all foods according to safe food handling guidelines
13. Uses first-in, first-out (FIFO) method for stocking and selecting food
14. Other related duties as assigned by supervisor
15. Perform cleaning functions in assigned areas
16. Collect and transport garbage, recycling with the ability to push/pull large carts
17. Performs periodic floor and carpet maintenance in accordance with established procedures and prescribed techniques
18. Maintains cleanliness, orderliness and general repair of equipment and work area
19. Completes project/special cleaning in areas as assigned by the supervisor
20. Follows safe work practices
21. Complete specific set-ups for special functions
22. Completes office moves - transporting of desks, cabinets and other furniture from one area to another as requested by supervisors
23. Other duties as assigned

Hours/Shifts: 80 hours bi-weekly - 8 hour shifts
