Job summary

A local student union in Edmonton seeks a Food Service Worker 1 to assist in daily operations at their coffee shop on campus. This role requires excellent customer service, food preparation skills, and knowledge of food safety. Applicants should have a minimum of Alberta Grade 12 or equivalent. Flexible scheduling is available with 2-4 shifts per week during mornings, afternoons, and evenings.

Qualifications

  • Provincially-recognized food safety certification is an asset.
  • Related industry experience is an asset.
  • Excellent customer service skills including knowledge of food quality standards.

The Food Service Worker 1 assists in the overall operations of the Students’ Union’s coffee shop,Daily Grind, which is located in the Students' Union Building on the U of A's North Campus.

We are currently hiring for the following positions:

  • Casual positions, working 2-4 shifts per week (early mornings [7am], afternoons, evenings and weekends).

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Prepare coffees (including speciality) and serve muffins, cookies, scones and other food products in a food safe manner.
  2. Provide excellent customer service to students, staff and public clients in a professional and friendly manner.
  3. Ensure safe storage, sanitation and cleanliness of all areas and supplies.
  4. Serve as cashier as required.
  5. Assist with storage and inventory of food products in a timely manner.
  6. Perform other job-related duties as required by management.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Provincially-recognized food safety certification is an asset.
  • Related industry experience is an asset.

  • Excellent customer service skills including knowledge of food quality standards
  • Minimum Alberta Grade 12, or equivalent.
