Job summary

Aramark Canada is seeking a Food Services and Catering Worker to serve meals in an Independent School setting, while also performing catering duties for events. You will help set up services, serve guests, and maintain clean, safe work areas throughout shifts.

Responsibilities include buffets, daily cleaning, safety logging, and providing friendly service while accommodating guest needs. Evening and weekend availability may be required, and cross-training across departments is possible.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a server, customer service or food service role is preferred.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Must have working knowledge of food safety principles and procedures (will be trained).
  • Must be able to obtain a food safety certification.
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written directions.

Responsibilities

  • Set up catering services based on banquet event orders and client requests.
  • Serve guests food and beverages in a buffet service setting (breakfast, lunch, dinner).
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of food service areas during an event.
  • Replenish food and beverage products during an event.
  • Maintain a clean and neat workstation, and clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils.
  • Wash work areas, including prep and service areas.
  • Keep daily temperature logs using a calibrated digital thermometer.
  • Break down and clean food service areas and equipment after an event and return equipment to the proper storage area.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including proper food safety and sanitation.
  • Use proper food handling and food safety knowledge.
  • Provide excellent customer service by anticipating guests' needs.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and greet customers.
  • Escalate customer concerns to a supervisor or manager as needed.
  • Communicate and interact in a professional manner at all times.
  • Transfer supplies and equipment between work and storage areas.
  • Separate and remove waste and place it in the appropriate receptacles.
  • Work in other departments or areas and cross-train as required by a manager.
  • Complete any other duties or tasks as assigned by a manager.

This position also requires duties within the Catering department, when business requires. Catering is responsible for setting up events, transporting food and equipment, serving guests, and cleaning up after the event.

  • Requires constant standing and walking for extended periods, up to six hours.
  • Requires frequent lifting of up to 25 lbs.
  • Requires frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying of up to 30 lbs.
  • Requires occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires repetitive motion.
  • Requires working with chemicals, steam, and heated equipment.
  • Will be required to clear a Toronto Police Services Vulnerable Sector Check
