Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking a Food Service I to perform routine food preparation, portioning, assembly, delivery and customer service in the High Prairie Health Complex. Duties include serving meals to patients and customers and maintaining cleanliness in accordance with AHS standards.

The role requires basic computer skills, a Food Safe Handling Certificate within three months, and the ability to lift up to 46 lbs and push/pull carts up to 250 lbs.

Job description

Your Opportunity

Under the general supervision of the Food Services Supervisor, this position performs routine food service duties such as preparation, portioning, assembly, delivery, distribution, disassembly, cleaning, operating industrial food service equipment, inventory stocking, cash transactions and customer service in all functional areas of the department. Food Service delivery is provided to Long Term Care residents. This position must be independent and able to make some decisions as a supervisor is not on duty at all times. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Food Service I, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine tasks associated with basic food preparation in accordance with AHS standards and procedures. Your typical duties may include packaging and portioning food items, preparing food according to set guidelines and menus, serving meals to patients and customers and cleaning and sanitizing equipment, dishes, tables and serving areas.

Required Qualifications

Additional Required Qualifications

Require basic computer skills. Food Safe Handling Certificate is required within three months. To work as part of a team, to be organized, perform duties independently and have the ability to work and learn quickly. Demonstrate interpersonal skills and customer service skills. Ability to read, write, speak and receive instruction in English. Must be physically fit and be able to perform heavy lifting up to 20 kg.
