Reporting to the Resident District Manager, the Food Service Director will oversee the daily Aramark foodservice at the Newnham Campus of Seneca Polytechnic in North York. The Food Service Director will be responsible for the profitable management of these services under contract with the Client. This is an interactive role with the client, customers, and employees. The Food Service Director will also provide a vision to growing the business.

Job Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain procedures for purchasing, receiving, storage, preparation, food service
• Coordinate and supervise staff on food production, merchandising, quality and cost control, labour, scheduling, staffing, and training
• Assist front line managers with any operational and staffing issues
• Train, develop and mentor the management team and establish succession plans
• Monitor financial operating results to achieve company and client objectives
• Prepare business plans, budgets, and forecasts; ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for all business sectors
• Assist in menu planning, and develop new initiatives and programs to increase sales and improve customer satisfaction that includes growing the catering business through marketing strategies
• Ensure all operating standards are achieved and standards for sanitation and food safety are met
• Maintain records to comply with Aramark and government standards
• Ensure adherence to Aramark’s policies and procedures and Health and Safety Programs

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Hospitality, Food & Beverage or Business is preferred
• A valid Ontario’s driver’s license and own vehicle required for travel to other campus sites
• 2-4 years management experience in multi-unit food service operations
• Previous experience managing Tim Hortons, Starbucks or Pizza Pizza is a definite asset
• Ability to manage in a diverse environment with a focus on client and customer services, systems, and processes
• Objectively monitor plans and projects; seek process improvements
• Ability to effectively communicate with clients, customers and staff and shift with changing demands
• Personal ownership and responsibility to build performance- based relationships; create the right solutions to address specific needs
• Provide immediate support and feedback; accurately assess and address development needs

• Proficiency in all Microsoft office suite applications is required
