As a Food Service Assistant, you are responsible for the well-being of our residents through creating a friendly, inviting dining experience for them.

Responsibilities

  1. Greeting residents
  2. Taking meal orders
  3. Answering questions about menu items
  4. Serving meals and beverages, including carrying heavy trays
  5. Supporting residents requiring alternate menu options due to allergies or medical reasons
  6. Assisting with dishes and food preparation
  7. Ensuring the dining area is safe and sanitary
  8. Serving during special events and catered functions as needed
  9. Setting and re-setting tables, clearing debris and garbage
  10. Assisting with receiving and storing food and supplies
  11. Identifying and reporting any health, safety, and maintenance concerns
  12. Maintaining patience and tactful composure when dealing with residents, family members, staff members, and visitors
  13. Other duties as assigned to support operational requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Minimum of one (1) year experience
  2. Post-secondary education in culinary is preferred
  3. Strong background in food services in a residential care setting or hotel
  4. Exceptional interpersonal skills with peers, residents, visitors, and operational partners
  5. Superior organizational skills with the ability to handle a fast-paced environment
  6. Comprehensive food services knowledge, including focus on quality, production, sanitation, and presentation
  7. Superior oral and written communication skills
  8. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and problem solve
  9. Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  10. Able to work flexible shifts
