Reporting to the Manager - Food Safety and Quality Assurance, the Analyst oversees regional food processing centers, developing, recommending, implementing, and executing food safety protocols to meet regulatory requirements and support business objectives such as sales, market share, and profit. The role involves ensuring compliance through audits, inspections, training, and other measures.
T&T Supermarket Inc., founded in 1993, is Canada's largest Asian supermarket chain with 33 stores across BC, Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec, with ongoing expansion plans.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing, modifying, implementing, and executing food safety and quality assurance programs (HACCP, GFSI, GMP, etc.).
- Deliver food safety certification and training to employees.
- Stay current on Canadian food safety legislation and anticipate regulatory developments.
- Liaise with government inspection officials and contribute to regulatory processes.
- Conduct food safety and QA duties on the processing floor and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Participate in new product development and evaluation.
- Organize and analyze sensory evaluations and suggest quality improvements.
- Review product and raw material labels, calculate nutrition facts, and create accurate labels using Genesis software.
- Perform microbiological and chemical analyses, sampling, and report interpretation.
- Review and approve vendor FSQA programs.
- Investigate customer complaints and implement improvement plans.
- Coordinate recalls and business continuity plans.
- Develop and maintain product specifications and formulations.
- Report incidents, accidents, and near misses.
- Assist with FDA, USDA registration, exporter licenses, US label development, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related fields.
- At least 3 years of experience in food safety or quality assurance.
- Knowledge of federal and provincial food regulations.
- Proficiency in English; Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin) is an asset.
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent time management and problem-solving skills.
- Highly organized, flexible, and able to work independently and in teams.
- Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills.
