FOOD PRODUCTION ASSISTANT MANAGER

Reporting to and as the right arm of the Production Manager, we are looking for a dynamic and well-experiencedFood Production Assistant Manager. This leadership role will not hesitate to roll up its sleeves to help lead and improve production activities, ensure optimal efficiency, and meet fulfillment targets.Previous culinary experience may also give you an advantage.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Managing the daily activities of the Production team in conjunction with shift supervisors in executing and delivering high-quality products for our customers and achieving team targets
  • Frequently communicating and reviewing work progress with the team, ensuring collaboration and operational efficiency
  • Leading team meetings with employees to review objectives, service levels, quality concerns, productivity, and allocation of duties
  • Effectively manage the team by supporting recruitment, providing training and development, reviewing performance, and monitoring labour allocation.
  • Work directly with the Production Manager on improving and creating efficient processes.
  • Taking direction and guidance from the Production Manager and regularly updating them on department activities.

SHIFT REQUIREMENTS:
The regular hours for this role are Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., andflexibility is required to accommodate business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Min 3 years previous leadership experience is required.
  • Previous experience leading in a kitchen environment and or working with food processing equipment ideal.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, direct and train 30-50 staff as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written (English).
  • Good understanding of Warehouse Management Systems/CRM, an asset.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products, mainly Excel.
  • Ability to safely bend, twist and lift to 50 lbs. on a consistent basis.
  • Ability to work in a refrigerated environment.
REQUIRED (will be provided by Islands West if needed):
  • Forklift and pallet jack certification
  • Food Safe Level 1
  • Hepatitis A Vaccination
