Job summary

FPS Food Process Solutions Corporation is seeking an experienced Food Process Development Specialist to join our R&D team in Charlottetown. You will lead pilot-scale studies, develop processing procedures, and ensure product quality and regulatory compliance across projects.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a food science discipline, 3+ years in industrial food process development, strong written and verbal communication, and willingness to travel internationally to support client

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in food technology, Food Science, Food Engineering, Nutrition, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in food process development, food technology in industrial food manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of food science, process optimization, food safety systems, and quality management principles.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, SQF, ISO standards, GMP, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software and experimental design methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting pilot-plant and commercial-scale food processing trials.
  • Experience supporting new product development, technology validation, commercialization, and customer implementation projects.
  • Strong technical writing, project management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Ability to travel internationally to support customer projects and technical initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Support research and development activities focused on improving food processing technologies and industrial food manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in design and execute R&D, pilot-scale, and commercial-scale validation studies for new product development projects.
  • Evaluate new food processing technologies and recommend improvements to processing methods and equipment performance and product quality.
  • Develop, validate and optimize food processing procedures to improve product quality, yield, efficiency, food safety, and sustainability.
  • Conduct testing, pilot-scale trials, and commercial-scale validation activities for food processing applications.
  • Perform technical analysis of food microstructure, texture, rheology, process performance, and product stability.

Tasks

  • Provide technical expertise during equipment installation, commissioning, and process optimization at customer facilities.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, sales, and service teams to support innovative food processing solutions.
  • Evaluate emerging food processing technologies and identify opportunities for process improvement and new product development.
  • Maintain and develop quality control and validation documentation and procedures to ensure compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical training and support to customers and internal teams.
  • Represent CMP at industry conferences, technical meetings, and customer presentations as required.
