Job summary

Aramark Canada is hiring a First Cook for Hydro-Québec in East James Bay. The role features a 70-hour work week with overtime after 55 hours and a 300-hour probationary period.

The successful candidate will cook to standardized recipes, manage kitchen operations, and ensure food safety and quality, with meals and accommodations provided on-site. Wage starts at $27.98 per hour, with increases per the collective agreement after probation.

Qualifications

  • Culinary diploma (DEP) preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 to 4 years of experience in food service or the restaurant industry.
  • MAPAQ certification.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation programs.
  • Follow all established safety regulations and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of food items according to production guidelines and standardized recipes.
  • Prepare the daily menu.
  • Manage kitchen operations, including staff, inventory, and ordering as required.
  • Be able to respond effectively to operational needs.
  • Set up workstations with all required ingredients and equipment. Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, cutting, and peeling food items.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and maintain a positive attitude toward guests, customers, clients, colleagues, and others.
  • Ensure the quality of food services and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area.

Aramark offers 15 days on / 13 days off work rotation schedule.

Transportation is provided by airplane from the Bagotville and Rouyn-Noranda airports.

Position: First Cook

Location: Hydro-Québec, East James Bay

Hourly Wage: $27.98

The wage will increase according to the applicable collective agreement upon completion of the 300-hour probationary period.

The work schedule consists of 70 hours per week. All hours worked beyond 55 hours per week are paid at time and a half.
