About the Department

The Food and Nutrition Services Department at Baycrest provides services to clients within our Hospital Services, Mountainview, and Freeman Day Centres. Our mission is to deliver safe, appetizing, and nutritionally optimal food to ensure an enjoyable mealtime experience for patients, residents, staff, and visitors, in accordance with Jewish Kashruth laws.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise all services within the designated area, aligning with Baycrest’s mission, values, and strategic plan.
  • Ensure adherence to the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management's ethics and standards.
  • Comply with external legislative standards and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintain Kashruth laws within the responsible areas, respecting diverse cultural needs.
  • Implement and oversee the Quality Improvement audit schedule.
  • Collaborate with the Registered Dietitian and interdisciplinary team.
  • Assist in staff orientation, training, and in-service education based on departmental needs.
  • Manage staff scheduling, meetings, and documentation of minutes.
  • Monitor and evaluate employee performance.
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation and food safety standards.
Qualifications
  • Experience supervising staff in a unionized environment required.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Long Term Care.
  • Current Advanced Food Handlers Certification.
  • Membership with the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management or registration as a Dietitian.
  • Knowledge of MOHLTC Regulations, clinical documentation, and therapeutic nutrition.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with PointClickCare, Computrition, Mealsuite is an asset.
