A leading hospitality provider in Metro Vancouver is seeking an Assistant Manager to oversee all onboard hospitality operations. The successful candidate will lead a team to deliver exceptional guest experiences and ensure service areas are ready for events. Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience in hospitality leadership, strong knowledge of bar operations, and valid certifications. Evening and weekend availability is required.
As the Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing all onboard hospitality operations, ensuring an exceptional guest experience that reflects the high standards of Harbour Cruises. You will supervise and direct all front-line staff on our vessels, including servers and bartenders, ensuring that service is delivered seamlessly and consistently.
· Provide assistance and direction to staff before, during and after each sailing/ event, ensuring servers and bartenders know what is expected
· Lead a pre-shift meeting with staff to provide an overview of the events and timelines
· Keep manager updated when staff should be added, called off or sent home
· Ensure vessel/banquet room is ready for customer service by walking through and checking the room, noting and correcting any deficiencies before guests arrive
· Make sure all staff working in their room are aware of the details in BEO’s for each function
· Enforce all company policies ie. uniform policy, staff breaks etc., reporting any problems to F&B Service Manager or Food and Beverage Manager
· At the end of day, ensure room is clean and properly re-set for the next function
· Ensure service areas are clean and closing checklists are complete for your room
· Record actual amounts for beverages and meals on the BEO
· Ensure proper cashout of all bars
· Complete thorough end of sailing/event reports
· Ensure all team members are actively engaged, present, and performing their duties to standard.
Qualifications:
· Minimum 5 years of experience in a hospitality leadership role, preferably in food & beverage or cruise/event-based environments.
· Proven ability to lead high-performing teams in fast-paced settings.
· Strong knowledge of bar operations, mixology, wine service, and industry best practices.
· Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
· Valid Serving It Right certification (or equivalent), Food Safe and First Aide .
· Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
