Job summary

CancerCare Manitoba is seeking a Research Technician 3 to support cutting-edge research at the Research Institute in Winnipeg. The role involves hands-on lab work, operating flow cytometers and related instruments, and maintaining rigorous standards.

A bachelor’s degree with lab experience or equivalent is required. You will work under guidance with scientists and senior technicians, train staff, and contribute to data generation and protocol development in a collaborative, grant-funded

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with laboratory analysis experience or equivalent.
• High school completion plus at least four years of directly related experience.

Responsibilities

• Follow experimental designs established by scientists, graduate students, or senior technicians.
• Operate specialized equipment including flow cytometers, centrifuges, and FACS instruments.
• Perform routine and specialized laboratory procedures under general supervision.
• Conduct flow cytometry, immunophenotyping, and FACS Calibrate equipment, replace parts, and perform minor maintenance on laboratory instruments.
• Develop and refine protocols and standard operating procedures.
• Perform literature searches to support ongoing experimental work.
• Train and orient new employees and demonstrate techniques to students.
• Prepare purchase orders and ensure laboratory supplies are adequately stocked.
