Job summary

Unity Health Toronto, including Providence Healthcare, St. Joseph’s Health Centre and St. Michael’s Hospital, seeks a float Speech-Language Pathologist to provide evaluation and management for adults with swallowing and communication disorders across hospital programs.

The role offers coverage during staff absences, opportunities to work in various units, and involvement in education, quality initiatives, and research. Prior CASLPO licensure and acute care experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or equivalent).
• Must be currently licensed by and in good standing with CASLPO for practice in all applicable clinical areas.
• Minimum of two years experience preferred in swallowing and communication assessment and management in acute care.
• Experience with assessment and management of communication and swallowing for medical-surgical patients of various disease presentation, and with tracheostomy tubes.
• Experience with videofluoroscopy and holds current certification or is willing to obtain training in MBSImP training.

• Provide evaluation and management of swallowing and communication disorders.
• Work with interprofessional team to provide comprehensive patient care.
• Contribute to the academic mandate as educator, resource or support for staff and the community.
• Identify and address educational needs for patients and families.
• Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain high-quality care.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the organization.
• Provide patient care in accordance with professional and organizational standards.
