Job description

The Staff Nurse is a registered professional nurse in Massachusetts responsible for planning and delivering patient care according to Nursing Standards of Care as outlined in the Nursing Department's Clinical Practice Manual. The role requires demonstrating initiative, clinical knowledge, and skills in managing patients with complex needs. The nurse must effectively assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, reporting directly to a nurse manager or supervisor. This position promotes the Patient and Family Centered Care Model in a best-practice environment. As a Critical Care RN, the nurse is also responsible for responding to emergencies across departments, leading responses to Rapid Response, Code Blue, Code Stroke, and outpatient Code Blue situations.

Qualifications - External
  • BSN is required.
  • Current Massachusetts RN licensure is required.
  • Preferred: 2-3 years ICU experience.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • ACLS certification required or must be obtained by the end of orientation.
  • Adherence to all I C.A.R.E. standards.
  • Evidence of basic analytic thinking necessary for patient care.
  • Strong observational skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Ability to work under stress with good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective skills in applying hospital standards, teamwork, communication, respect, and time management.
