The Staff Nurse is a registered professional nurse in Massachusetts responsible for planning and providing patient care according to Nursing Standards of Care as outlined in the Nursing Department's Clinical Practice Manual. The role requires demonstrating initiative, clinical skills, and knowledge in caring for patients with complex needs. The nurse must effectively manage patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, reporting directly to a nurse manager or supervisor. This position emphasizes the practice of the Patient and Family Centered Care Model in a best-practice environment. As a Critical Care RN, the nurse is also responsible for responding to emergencies across departments, acting as the lead during emergency responses such as Rapid Response, Code Blue, Code Stroke, and outpatient Code Blue calls.
