ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Float Nurse will travel regionally, working within a delegated model for patients on opioid agonist treatment within a clinic environment. They will provide expert coverage for staffing shortages, participate in on-site visits, assist with bloodwork, ECGs, and immunizations.
YOUR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide professional services to multiple regional locations
- Operate ethically and with integrity, adhering to standards of the Ontario College of Nurses
- Administer medications including methadone, suboxone, narcotics, and injections as delegated
- Collaborate with healthcare team to plan and evaluate treatment plans
- Perform ECGs, venipuncture, drug screening, and other vitals
- Administer injections, document procedures, and manage medication tracking
- Communicate with physicians regarding patient needs and emergencies
- Provide program information to patients
- Handle scheduling, data, and document management, and update electronic medical records
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE:
- Diploma in Registered Practical Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Experience in addiction treatment or similar field
- Ability to travel and access to personal vehicle
- Good standing with the College of Nurses in Ontario
- Annual CNO Quality Assurance certification
- Recent Criminal Reference Check
- Training in Phlebotomy and ECG is an asset
- Current First Aid and CPR Certification
- Strong commitment to working with individuals with addiction and mental health issues
- Ability to establish therapeutic relationships
- Knowledge of Harm Reduction principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
