Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking an Addiction Medicine specialist, Psychiatry Medical Officer, or GP with an interest in addiction medicine for a fixed-term, part-time role at Nelson Hospital, in the Marlborough region. Flexible hours (0.2–0.8 FTE) from October 2026 to February 2027, with potential coverage across the wider region.

The role involves delivering specialist care for alcohol and other drug-related issues within a multidisciplinary team, including opioid dependency

Qualifications

• Experience working with people affected by alcohol and other drug use.
• Fellowship or Membership of relevant college or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist clinical care to people with alcohol and other drug-related problems.
• Assess and treat patients with opioid dependency and contribute to opioid substitution where appropriate.
• Work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver client-centred care.
