Job summary

Autism Services is seeking an experienced truck driver for national and cross-border routes. You will operate tractor-trailer and flatbed units, plan efficient routes, and ensure cargo safety and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities include loading/unloading, securing cargo, carrying out vehicle inspections, and maintaining accurate logs and dispatch communications. The role involves on-road work and flexible schedules.

Qualifications

  • AZ license required for operat ing nationwide routes.
  • Air Brakes Endorsement (and Z) required.
  • Long-haul and cross-border transport experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan or adjust routes to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
  • Drive tractor-trailer and flatbed trucks and oversee cargo.
  • Load and unload goods; tarp and secure cargo.
  • Perform pre-trip, en-route and post-trip inspections.
  • Record hours of service and fuel consumption; communicate with dispatch.

Job description

$60,000.00 to $75,000.00 annually (to be negotiated)


Tasks


  • Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions

  • Professionalism in customer service

  • Arrange travel, related itineraries and make reservations

  • Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy

  • Drive lighter, special purpose trucks

  • Load and unload goods

  • Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes

  • Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials

  • Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment

  • Perform brake adjustments

  • Perform emergency roadside repairs

  • Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle

  • Perform preventive maintenance

  • Receive and relay information to central dispatch

  • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption

  • Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
