Job summary

Pet Valu Canada Inc. in Markham, ON is seeking a Warehouse General Labour to support fixture maintenance and delivery for store setups. You will assist in mounting and moving fixtures, loading and unloading for expansions, relocations, and openings.

This is a full-time, permanent role with opportunities to grow within the warehouse team. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, at least 3 months warehouse experience, and the ability to lift 50+ lbs, operate basic tools, and obtain a valid

Qualifications

• High School education.
• 3 months of warehouse experience.
• Knowledge of fixturing is an asset.
• Heavy lifting 50+ lbs required.
• Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods.
• Must be able to use power tools (saws, drills).
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to work 7am–4pm.
• Extensive daily travel may be required.
• Able to operate a pallet jack; forklift training available.

Responsibilities

• Deliver for store set ups including loading/unloading fixtures.
• Store take-downs for closings/relocations.
• Shipping and receiving duties.
• Picking and preparation of racking orders.
• Organization of picking locations.
• Conduct periodic product cycle counts.
• Notify supervisor when inventory is low.
• Warehouse housekeeping and safety compliance.
• Operate material handling equipment and inspect before use.
• Receive and restock store returns; prepare outgoing shipments.
• Other tasks as required.

What is the role?

The incumbent will assist in the maintenance of equipment and fixtures in the warehouse. They will also assist in delivery of fixtures to stores and minor install projects.

What will you do?

• Deliver for Store set ups pertaining to new stores, expansions, and relocations, which includes loading and unloading fixtures


• Store take-downs pertaining to store closings and relocations


• Shipping and receiving duties


• Picking and preparation of racking orders placed by corporate and franchise stores


• Organization of the picking locations


• Conducting periodic product cycle counts


• Notifying the supervisor when product inventory levels are below established quantities


• Warehouse housekeeping, sweeping, cleaning, organizing


• Operation of material handling equipment


• Checking the physical condition of material handling equipment before operating


• Adherence to the safety rules and practices designed to ensure safety of operations and condition of stock


• Receiving incoming merchandise (checking packing slips against purchase orders, verification of goods received - product description and quantity)


• Receiving and restocking of store returns, including: racking, shelving, display boards, etc.


• Preparing outgoing loads for shipment, ensures that loads to be shipped are complete


• Other tasks and assignments as required

What will you need to succeed?

• Education and Experience: High School


• 3 months of previous warehouse experience


• Knowledge of fixturing would be an asset


• Knowledge and Skills: Must be capable of heavy lifting 50+ lbs


• Must be capable of standing/walking for extended periods of time


• Must be capable of using standard power tools as required: saws, drills, etc


• Must have a valid driver’s licence


• Must be able to work between 7am – 4pm


• Extensive daily travel may be required as needed


• Operate a powered pallet jack – willing to train


• Operate a forklift – willing to train

Compensation: The targeted hourly pay range for this position is $26 -$29 per hour. The final offer will be based on factors such as market location, relevant skills, experience and internal equity.
