In this role, you will work with a team of talented, operators overseeing the day-to-day operations of plant and field, preparing equipment for maintenance, troubleshooting, and working with the control room for plant optimization and maximizing plant efficiencies.

Responsibilities

  • Execute operating procedures, hazardous energy isolations and operator rounds, as well as perform start-up & shut-down activities, and participate in the operator training program
  • Operate plant equipment safely according to established practices, procedures and operating guidelines
  • Maintain equipment by conducting preventative maintenance including regular equipment checks, troubleshooting, problem diagnosis, prepare equipment for maintenance and return to service, perform basic repairs, initiate maintenance requests and interface closely with Maintenance to ensure equipment health and reliability
  • Ensure the safety of personnel working within the assigned area and ensure personal protective equipment and other plant policies and procedures are followed during operations

Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant hydrocarbon or petrochemical operating experience within oil sands, refining, petrochemical, gas plants and/or upgrading and/or pulp and paper
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • A valid driver's licence and a clean driving record
  • Ability to read and understand process and instrument diagrams
  • Process safety management (PSM) knowledge preferred
  • 4th Class Power Engineering preferred
  • Operating and/or turnaround experience within a paraffinic froth treatment plant preferred

Location & other key details

  • You will work out of our Fort Hills Plant in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • The shift schedule is a 7 days on / 7 days off rotation (12-hour shifts)
  • You will be on a Fly-In-Fly-Out Rotation from one of the approved hubs of Edmonton or Calgary or a Bus-In-Bus-Out of Fort McMurray.
  • You will be required to perform some heavy lifting, use of stairs and ladders and work on elevated work sites such as scaffolds, structures and towers with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces
  • This position is safety sensitive
